Sophie
Taylor
Counsellor
MBACP, MSc. Psychology
As an existential-phenomenological counsellor my role is to be alongside you in whatever has brought you to therapy, without judgement.
In our sessions, through phenomenological exploration, we will delve deep into the fundamental questions of what it means to be human, such as the search for meaning, freedom, and what it means to have choice.
Phenomenology seeks to understand human experience by opening your lived experience through description rather than explanation. Together, we explore the richness of how you have lived to date and how you would like to live, or die.
Ultimately I will be guided by you, and your needs in our work together.
About me
As a qualified counselling psychotherapist registered by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), I hold myself to the highest professional standards, your well-being and confidentiality are my priority.
We can work with whatever you bring to therapy, in particular I work with anxiety, fertility, pregnancy, parenthood, womens health, abortion, depression, stress, bereavement, grief, illness, sense of self, ageing, suicide and trauma.
With BACP registration, you can trust that I have met rigorous criteria for training, experience, and ethical practice. I am bound by and adhere to the BACP’s Ethical Framework – www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework as well as the UKCP Code of Ethics https://www.psychotherapy.org.uk/media/bkjdm33f/ukcp-code-of-ethics-and-professional-practice-2019.pdf
My approach to therapy
Therapy is a collaborative journey of discovery that allows you to take the time and space to better understand your experiences and history.
In our sessions together, we create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Unlike approaches that solely aim to solve specific problems, psychotherapy with me is about gaining insight, with the aim of understanding yourself at a deeper level.
It's a process guided by you, where we work together to navigate life's challenges, discover your inner strengths, and cultivate a greater sense of how you would like to live.
